My Weight-Loss Goal

Got so upset this morning when I step onto my weighing machine. Oh no, cannot believe my eyes 2 find my weight increase 2kg over the weekend! Oh shit... what went wrong? The bowl of B&J icecream I consumed on Sat? Or the buffet dinner I ate last Fri? Oh gosh.. or maybe must be something wrong with my weighing machine ba..

Hmm.. why am I wasting time looking for the culprits instead of ought to think of what I should do next? Yeah man, better take action before I continue to procrastinate and then sure will cry when turn out being a Fatty BomBom with no notice! OK Ok, I shall commit myself to lose 3kg in 10 days!

Hmm.. easily said than done wor, as always the case! Ok, first I deem I must motivate myself. K, what will be it that will motivate me the most? I deem it's imperative that I list down the benefits & reasons for my goal:

1) For a nicer shape... YES YES I definitely don't want to be in that restriction to stick to just a few baggy clothing all the time man. I DEFINITELY wanna look pretty and wear sexy clothes with all my usual confidence.

2) Look forever young and more attractive & eye-turner like I always am:)

3) To prove to myself that I can do it.

4) To show Tracy (my best friend) that I didn't lie to her. I always tell her to watch out diet and claim it's easy to maintain weight & shape by exercising. Gosh if I turn fat, she confirms 1st person to laugh at me ba!

5) For better health

Ok now my strategy & plan of action:
a) Run at least 3km at least 3 times a week. Ideally, if my schedule permits, I'll make it a point to do it every alternate days.

b) Do 60 sit-ups every morning (or at the gym).

c) Do 30 leg-curl, 45 butterfly chest-press, 60 crunches and 60 left&right freeweights during every gym session.

d) Skip dinners completely every night [only allow to take 2 eggs (no yolk) & a glass of whey protein milk).

e) No gassy drinks, no fattening foods, no tibits, no buffet meals!!

f) Must drink at least 8 glasses of plain water every day.

g) Must use my Osim & Aibi toning machines every nights.

Ok, last but not least, I shall announce the date of my accomplishment to be on 24 November 2007... Oops, now that I'm posting this out, guess I've no more other excuse to procrastinate again. To anybody bother to read this page & be my witness, if I tend to get lazy, you are authorised to scold & boo at me ya... Hmm.. but I bet u have that chance :D

Holiday Gift Barbie

Hi to all in Singapore, Happy Deepavali! Happy Holiday! Holidays are often a time to give our hearts and gifts to all the ones we love.

Introducing my next Barbie... a Limited Edition 1998 designed by Bob Mackie.

This exquisite Holiday Gift Barbie Doll, made of fine porcelain bisque, is the 4th doll in the Holiday Porcelain Barbie Collection, designed to celebrate the elegance and tradition of the holiday season.

Hand-crafted in fine porcelain bisque, she is hand-numbered in gold paint to certify her authenticity.

I purchased this doll from one of the shops in China Square at approximately US$100. Current value of this doll is well cost over US$200. So to all of you out there who have intentions to join me as a collector or investor, you sure will get as excited as I am :)

Lingerie Barbie

Sexy Brunette Fashion Model Barbie #2 (aka "Lingerie" Barbie") shown in her box.

So many have found their way home with me, particularly like to introduce this
11½ inches sexy silkstone that comes with white wrist tag and marks the COPYRIGHT of MATTEL INC. 1958. Her makeup is different than makeup for other blonde fashion models, a simply must-have!

Now you know... Underneath it all, Barbie is as impeccably attired as you might have imagined. In her white nostalgic-looking bra, and sexy stocking with garters set, plus white heels, she's poised to wear some of the most beautiful fashions in Barbie Doll's history, perhaps making guys drool :), she forms part of the "playgirl" gang among those other Lingerie Barbies in my collection.

This Doll is one of the "Limited Edition" dolls for modern Barbies "limited" to 35,000 worldwide, outfit is similarly limited too. Doll and outfit are sold-out on most dealers' level as of September 2000. Separate outfits available for this doll include "Lunch at the Club" and "Garden Party." This doll was designed by Barbie designer Robert Best.

Market Report has shown that t
his doll has increased significantly in value since 2000, since it was the second doll in the very popular Silkstone/Lingerie Barbie series. The early Silkstone dolls have definitely bucked the trend on declining modern Barbie prices.

I purchased this doll from Doll Inc at Wheelock Place for approximately US$50 and guess what her current price is? Ha.. currently ranges from US$200 to US$300+ (NRFB = Never Remove From Box) at online auctions such as eBay.. indeed one of my super best buys :)

Barbie Arrives

Barbie - the name inspired by that of the Handlers' daughter, Barbara Joyce - officially debuted on the American market in March 1959 at New York City's American Toy Fair.

Unaware of the future that awaited her, Barbie was buttressed by the commercial aptitude and insights of Ruth Handler, a shrewd believe in her innovatory potential.

Presented as a "teenage fashion model", she was widely touted in the Mattel catalogs as "a new kind of doll from real life", with the serial number 850, measuring 11½ inches tall, and available in blond or brunette. Boxed in a pretty white carton illustrated on the outside with dress designs from the collection, she wore a black-&-white-striped jersey bathing suit and was accessorized with her celebrated white sunglasses with blue lenses, high-heeled black shoes, gold-hoop earrings, a pedestal on which to support her, and the ubiquitous little catalog illustrating a variety of models that could be purchased at prices ranging from US$1 - US$5 per package (today such vintage doll is worth at least US$1500 & up.. per piece)

The Mattel logo and the name "Barbie", written in its distinctive script and printed on all point-of-purchase packaging, guaranteed the product and protected it from imitation. The doll carried an imprint at the small of her back that was stamped directly onto the vinyl during the molding process.

This patent was submitted in 1958 and maintained the same trademark, sometimes using Arabic numbers for the date in place of the Roman numerals, until it was modified in 1966. Buyers met the doll with only moderate enthusiasm at first, perhaps troubled by the doll's adult features that were so alien to those of the usual innocuous baby dolls and little girls; she invited a certain caution. But these hesitations could not get the better of what already portended to be an unprecedented commercial phenomenon.

During 1959, more than 351,000 Barbie dolls were sold a the price of US$3 a piece, a victory largely due to the ingenious idea of promoting the doll on tv during the popular "Mickey Mouse Club" show. However, Ruth Handler's instinct to market the doll with a big wardrobe full of clothes and accessories sold separately was clearly the real trump card.

Barbie: From Doll to Icon

She may looks fake, well in fact she's fake and more so make in plastic. But to me, she's simply irresistible. Imagine, at her current age of 48 (born in 1959), she still looks so pretty, so chio. Well aboden.. who would want to collect an old woman doll wor?

Then I deem not many people know that Barbie, the most famous doll in the world, has a first & last name (namely Barbie Millicent Roberts), parents (Robert & Margareth Roberts), and a way to consult her horoscope (sign of Leo).

In the real world such humanistic identification definitely can be perplexing, since all of us habitually view toys as simple consumer products.

To invest a doll with such realistic attributes, however, makes me find the game a little more interesting. It imbues her with a credibility that, as we shall see, is the most significant aspect of this woman in miniature, and the driving force behind her success.

The fact that she is an "adult", at 11½ inches tall has allowed, and continues to allow, a multitude of little gals and adolescents access to the forbidden world of grownups, imitating the adult's habits and attitudes courtesy of the imaginative metamorphosis that occurs in children's play.

This adult universe of glamorous appearances is recreated around Barbie, who certainly can't help sheltered from and unspoiled by the stresses and ambitious drives that torment "real adults", for whom appearances often become the oppressive burden of everyday life.

Barbie made her debut in 1959 as an "adult" doll to dress for every occasion. In the decades that have followed, her appeal has reached cult status, establishing Barbie as a cultural and commercial phenomenon.

Sales of Barbie dolls have approached staggering levels, at a rate of 2 dolls per second around the world, with 150 new models brought to the market every year. Barbie and her myriad accessories are avidly collected by children and adults alike, yielding endless transformations and limited editions of her.
